Backup Planning
Identify critical systems, files, applications, cloud services, and business data.
Review recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives based on business needs.
Align backup scope, retention, and recovery expectations with written service agreements.
Document ownership, escalation contacts, and business priorities for recovery events.
Recommended Safeguards
Use secure backup solutions appropriate for the environment and business risk.
Protect backup administrative access with strong authentication and limited permissions.
Separate backup access from everyday user access where practical.
Monitor backup jobs and investigate failures or missed backup windows.
Review retention requirements for business, legal, compliance, and operational needs.
Restore Readiness
Backups are only valuable if they can be restored. Clover Technologies recommends periodic restore testing, documented recovery steps, and review of backup coverage as systems and business needs change.

Participate in restore testing and recovery planning when requested.
Limitations
Backup and recovery capabilities depend on the selected solution, licensing, configuration, service scope, retention, connectivity, and the condition of source systems. Written agreements define final obligations and service levels.
